Umbilical cord and nappy care

It's important to keep the umbilical cord as clean and as dry as possible.

You can get some newborn nappies that have a 'U' shape cut into the top of them that fits underneath the cord. Allowing as much air as possible to get to it as possible.

If you haven't got nappies like this you can always fold down the nappy underneath the cord.

If you any concerns at all about infection, make sure you contact the midwife or health visitor as soon as possible.
